Cost of college went up for all students at Tennessee Technological University

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.6 percent for 2018-19 at Tennessee Technological University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Tennessee residents paid $8,731 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $218 more than the $8,513 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 181.7 percent more than residents this year, or $24,595. Their price tag grew 0.9 percent from $24,377 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Tennessee residents. About 4 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,676 students received grants or scholarships totaling $14 million and 866 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,186), 7,446 students used grants or scholarships totaling $60.5 million, and 4,093 students took out $22.4 million in federal student loans.
